Honda City e:HEV | Everything you need to know

Honda City Hybrid India

We have always associated the Honda City with VTEC power. But we're in 2022, and Honda has revealed the City hybrid for India. The City Hybrid, which is officially named the 5th generation Honda City e:HEV. The e:HEV System features Honda's self-charging and highly efficient two-motor e-CVT hybrid system connected to a 1.5 liter Atkinson Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, intelligent power unit (IPU) with an advanced lithium-ion battery, an engine linked direct coupling clutch.

The e:HEV electric hybrid system uses 3 driving modes, EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive along with regeneration mode during deceleration. A power control unit ensures coordination between the various system components and automatically switches between the 3 driving modes based on different driving situations. in the pure EV drive mode, the honda city is driven exclusively by the motor using a battery for a silent and zero-emission drive. In the hybrid drive mode the electric motor power the wheels with the petrol engine acting as an electrical generator, while in the engine drive mode the engine runs at high fuel efficiency to directly drive the wheels, also the motor provides a peak power boost when required. The honda city e:HEV harnesses any electrical energy through braking and self-charges the lithium-ion battery pack with no need to manually charge the battery. The deceleration pedal selector lets the driver change the deceleration to three levels without stepping on the brake pedal.

This hybrid-electric system produces 126 PS, fuel economy is rated at 26.5 kilometers per liter and the maximum torque of 253 Nm is delivered between 0 to 3000 RPM. The vehicle gets an electro servo braking system with all four disc brakes, with the electric servo brake electric regenerative braking in the new city e:HEV combines with hydraulic braking to bring the vehicle to a quick stop while self-charging the lithium-ion battery pack. With the honda city hybrid, the automaker is also introducing honda sensing for the first time in India this system basically uses a front camera with a wide-angle far-reaching detection system to scan the road ahead and alert the driver to minimize the risk of accidents and in some cases intervene to avoid a collision or lessen its severity. Honda's Sensing safety features include a collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, and auto high beam. The city hybrid also comes equipped with 37 Honda connect car features in order to enhance the connected car experience honda connect now also works with smartwatch devices in addition to already existing integration with Alexa and ok google. With the smartwatch connectivity, the car can be remotely controlled for enhanced convenience and the user can always stay up to date with important notifications.

The honda city hybrid gets a signature blue 'H' mark logo at the front and rear, new fog light garnish and e:HEV badging on the rear, new black painted diamond-cut alloy wheels, new trunks lip spoiler, and a new rear bumper diffuser with a carbon finish. The interior of the vehicle packs a new dual-tone black and ivory interior color theme and the vehicle also gets an electronic parking brake apart from this the vehicle also gets a 17.7-centimeter high definition full-color TFT meter which displays a multitude of information including an e:HEV power flow meter, honda sensing support, and various other alerts and warnings.

So what do you think about the honda city hybrid would you buy it over the regular petrol or the diesel variants or would you buy any other sedan at this price point. That's all for this post stay tuned for more such content.
