2022 Baleno vs Altroz Comparison

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched their Baleno Facelift 2022 model in the market, and this car competes with cars like Hyundai Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz. So we are going to compare 2022 Maruti Baleno with Tata Altroz.

Exteriors

Both the car doesn't have much difference in their sizes. Both the vehicles have the exactly the same length of 3990 MM, and if we talk about the width, then Tata Altroz is 1755 MM, and Baleno is 1745 MM wide, and if we compare them in terms of height, then  Altroz is 1523 MM high, and Baleno is 1500 MM high. In terms of Wheelbase, Baleno is 2520 MM, and Altroz has its wheelbase of 2501 MM. Baleno has tire sizes of 195/55/16 in the top variant, 185/65/15 in the lower variant, and Altroz comes with 195/55/16 in the top variant, 185/60/16 in the mid variant 165/80/14 in the lower variants. Baleno comes with 318 Litres of boot space which is 20 liters less than the old Baleno, and Altroz comes with 345 liters of boot space. Maruti Baleno has a turning radius of 4.85 meters, and Altroz has a turning radius of 5.0 meters. Both the cars come with powerful headlamps, Baleno comes with LED projector headlamps, and Altroz comes with Halogen projector headlamps.

Both the cars are good-looking, but Altroz seems a little more stylish because of its appealing and futuristic design. Baleno looks very pleasant, but it looks like an evolution of the outgoing Baleno. It does not have any significant changes on the outside. Baleno comes with Heartech Platform by Suzuki, and Altroz comes with Alpha Architecture.

Interiors

Maruti Baleno comes with features like

A heads-up display, cruize control, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, electric mirrors, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, front footwear lamps, surround-view camera in which you get front, side, and rear cameras, a usual analog instrument cluster with a TFT display in the middle.

Tata Altroz Interior

Tata Altroz comes with features like

A digital instrument cluster, manual inside rearview mirror, push start/stop button, cooled glovebox with mood lighting, umbrella holer, reverse parking camera, automatic headlamps, cruize control, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, automatic climate control with express cooling, rear AC vents.

Both the hatchbacks are spacious and have good space in their cabins, both front, and back. Altroz comes with 90-degree opening doors, making it easier to go inside and outside. There is a slight difference in the quality of the interior of both the cars. Both the vehicles come with well-shaped seats, which offer good support and comfort to you. The rear seats of both the cars are also good, but Baleno doesn't come with a rear center armrest. Baleno's top-end variant comes with a 9-inch screen with a Smart play pro studio infotainment system. It has 4 speakers and 2 tweeters of Arkamys. It also comes with connected car features of Suzuki and Alexa connectivity as u get a 7-inch screen with smart play studio and non-Arkamys speakers in the lower variants. Tata Altroz comes with a 7-inch screen, 4 speakers, and 2 tweeters by Harman. You get the support of iRA-connected car technology.

Performance 

Maruti Baleno

Baleno only comes with only 1 engine option, a 1.2 liter 4-cylinder, dual jet petrol engine that produces 89 HP @6000 RPM and generates 113 NM Torque @4400 RPM. It comes with 5-speed manual transmission or 5-speed AMT. It gives a good fuel economy of 17-18 on highways. 

Tata Altroz

Altroz has 3 engine options, 1.2L Naturally aspirated petrol, 1.2L Turbo Petrol, and 1.5L Diesel. The naturally aspirated engine makes 86 PS power @6000 RPM and 113 Nm torque @3300 RPM. It comes with a 5-speed manual. The Turbocharged 1.2L engine makes 110 PS power @5500 RPM and 140 Nm torque @1500-5500 RPM. The diesel engine produces 90 PS power @4000 RPM and 200 Nm torque @ 1250-3000 RPM and comes with 5-speed manual transmission. You get City and Eco driving modes in the naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines and city and sport driving modes in the iTurbo engine.

So which one to buy? So if we talk about the prices, the Baleno costs around 7.5 Lakhs to 11 Lakhs (on-road Mumbai) which is decent enough. Compared with the earlier version of Baleno, the price has increased from approximately 20,000 to 30,000 only. If you want to buy a petrol car, you can go for Baleno, and if you're going to buy a car with a diesel engine, you can check out Altroz.
